Let me help you unpack.
Lotus Professional Counseling is an outpatient private practice office providing psychotherapy & counseling services to individual adults.

I am working hybrid-style, providing sessions via telehealth and a limited number of in-person sessions 1-2 days/week at my Royal Oak office. The best way to inquire about services is to send a message at the top of this page, where it says "Contact."

The Meaning behind the Name: The Lotus flower symbolizes healing and overcoming obstacles, among other reflections of life as we know it. I find the lotus flower to be a beautiful representation of what we seek to accomplish in therapy. I offer a personalized approach according to each client's individual needs, incorporating a variety of counseling methods.

My specialized training includes: Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, The Practice Self-Regulation “PS-R” Intervention (enhancing self-regulation challenges impacted and/or compromised by trauma), Military Resilience Training for Servicemembers and families, and Emotionally-Focused Therapy. My clinical experiences come from a wide range of settings including: private & community assisted living, juvenile residential treatment & shelter care, community mental health, in-home & school-based therapy, group practice and private practice. I recently completed an introductory training for Sand Tray Therapy (yes, it's for adults, too!), and I'm looking forward to utilizing this with clients that are interested.

A Little About Me as a Human: I have pretty much always been a T-shirt and jeans kinda girl. I’m both Team-Dog and Team-Cat (as such, I have two of each). I identify as a “Xennial” – GenXer on the cusp of the Millenial Generation 😉 I’m currently reading Lauren Graham's "Have I Told You This Already" and Brene Brown's "Atlas of the Heart". I am someone who never imagined getting tattoos but did so in my late 20’s, and they may or may not be visible depending on what season Michigan is gracing us with at the time. If you have them, I would love to hear your stories behind the art itself. And if you do not have tattoos, I still want to hear your stories. Our differences and unique qualities are what make this planet an interesting place to be, especially for someone with my sense of curiosity, wonder, and ongoing desire for learning. I enjoy various creative activities, albeit am terrible at finishing them. I greatly value the relationships I build with my clients; connecting with others in a meaningful way every single day, being present for the enlightening A-Ha moments, the gradual growth and celebrating the gentle-giant successes that happen in between and mean so much. And lastly, the pupper in my profile photo is my beloved aunt's senior golden retriever.
